Resilience is getting back up again, each and every time.

Resilience is the tree that bends in the wind but doesn't break.

Resilience is the tree that bends in the wind but doesn't break. Resilience is getting back up again when life knocks you down. It's holding strong against the challenges that life throws at you. Sometimes we are going to bend and those times it might feel like we are at the very bottom and we may feel broken but as long as you exist you still have a life to live.

A definition of resilience- "Resilience means knowing how to cope in spite of setbacks, or barriers, or limited resources. Resilience is a measure of how much you want something and how much you are willing, and able, to overcome obstacles to get it. It has to do with your emotional strength."

In my work as a therapist, I work with many clients that are at the very bottom and they feel that there is no place to go, life isn't worth living. True resilience is when you've reached rock bottom, feeling like there is nowhere to go, and then slowly and surely climbing back out of that dark place and back into the light. A bit of happiness, a bit of laughter, a bit of love. At first, its only tiny little glimpses but then those moments grow, they get bigger and bigger and then one day you wake up and you are feeling like life does have meaning and is worth it. And you continue.......
